FDA Suspends Vetsulin's Approval For Use

Recently the FDA has suspended Vetsulin's approval for use in regulating Diabetes Mellitus. Vetsulin has been the insulin of choice for dogs, and occasionally cats, with Diabetes for the past several years. Most dogs are very well regulated However, because the duration of activity is now thought to be longer than originally shown in some animals, we are asking owners with pets on Vetsulin to monitor for any signs of poor regulation. The most common symptom would be an increase in water drinking and urination, and/or weight loss. An ample supply of Vetsulin is currently available still, but eventually, we may need to wean animals to a different type of insulin. Please contact our office if you have any questions or concerns.
