What's New
New Controlled Substance Legislation
As of 1/1/2007, newly enacted legislation requires that all Veterinary hospitals and pharmacies that dispense
controlled substances report directly to the Department of Justice. Therefore, in compliance with the Department
of Justice's CURES program (Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System) if your pet receives
a controlled drug such as certain mood modifying agents or pain medications, we will need to keep a record of
your pets medication, and as the pets owner, your date of birth for identification.
We will not be using this information for any other purpose. In some instances, your pet may have received a
prescription earlier this year and we have yet to acquire your birthdate to keep on file. If this applies to
your pet, you will receive a letter from our office asking for this information.
Please contact us by phone or email (Hattonvethosp@frontiernet.net)
at your earliest convenience so that we may comply with this new law. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
